(Bandung, October 5, 2023) – Telkom University (Tel-U) Faculty of Communication and Social Sciences (FKS) successfully held a national seminar as well as a public lecture that provides deep insight by discussing one of the books entitled “Medianomics: The Political Economy of Media in the Digital Age” held at Open Library Telkom University (Tel-U). The talk show and book review session was hosted by Rana Akbari Fikriawan, S.Sos., M.Si., lecturer at the Faculty of Communication and Social Sciences (FKS) Telkom University (Tel-U) and founder of the Bandung Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI). This event is a highly anticipated discussion forum for academics, media practitioners, and the general public who are concerned about the development of media and political economy in the digital era.
The national seminar and book review “Medianomics: The Political Economy of Media in the Digital Era” held at Telkom University (Tel-U) was attended by a number of important figures, namely the Chief Editor of detik.com Alvito Deannova Gintings and the Head of the Culture Desk of Kompas Daily Budi Suwarna. The event also presented Dr. Catur Nugroho as the author of the book “Medianomics: The Political Economy of Media in the Digital Age” as well as a lecturer from Telkom University (Tel-U). In addition, the Expert Staff of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology for Communication and Mass Media, Widodo Muktiyo also attended and provided important insights and media developments in Indonesia in the digital era. This seminar aims to discuss various current issues related to media and political economy in the digital era.
Dr. Catur Nugroho expressed his view that the media today can be seen as a battleground between ideologies, economic interests, and politics. In his book entitled “Medianomics: The Political Economy of Media in the Digital Era,” the lecturer at the Faculty of Communication and Social Sciences (FKS) Telkom University (Tel-U) criticizes the condition of media institutions in the digital era, especially related to phenomena in the media industry. This book offers an in-depth analysis of how the media affects the structure and communication in today’s digital era.
In the book review “Medianomics: The Political Economy of Media in the Digital Age”, they provided an in-depth analysis of the issues raised in the book and its impact on media and political economy in Indonesia.
